DBS Dynamic braking system: exciting technology

One of the most important features of every technology that we’ve developed for Zipline is the net improvement it can bring to the overall experience, compared to other installations. That’s why we developed a braking system with controlled stop that doesn’t “put the brakes on” the experience for the rider.

It’s so thrilling to descend at breakneck speed and only slow down within a few metres of the end. You can do this with the DBS system designed by Adrenaline.

It’s also useful in terms of your turnover, because it drastically cuts down the ride time, allowing you to increase the number of riders.

The DBS allows “custom” braking that adjusts to every weight, whatever the speed of arrival, and there’s no bounceback.

An exclusive feature of DBS is that it’s highly automated: the rider arrives on the platform every time, with no need for assistance from the operator; the coupling of the pulley and the motor brake and activation of the brake itself (whether electric or, if necessary, manual) happens automatically.

Tests have shown that it has the highest level of safety. Finally, the brake is a redundant brake, which makes it resistant to wear.

A brake for maximum performance

The DBS braking system was conceived for Ziplines to target a high number of riders: the redundant brake and dynamic automatic coupling that brings the rider onto the platform greatly improves the efficiency of the system.

Another important feature of the system is the release mechanism: once the rider comes to a stop on the platform, the brake disengages so that you can release the pulley easily; this doesn’t happen with other systems.

DBS streamlines the experience, minimising the possibility of human error in braking: automatic braking requires zero involvement by the customer – all the rider has to do is enjoy the ride, and operator involvement is significantly reduced too.

The advantages of the DBS braking system


Customised braking and increased turnover DBS uses the dynamic piston system, technology that automatically adjusts the braking to the weight of the rider, allowing smooth, imperceptible deceleration. Stable braking and automatic reactivation also allow a significant increase in the volume of riders.

Always ready to go. Zero seasonal limits. The braking system is designed to automatically reset after each crossing, so as to be ready for a new launch with no need for operator intervention. On top of that, DBS can be installed in any type of external environment and is not affected in any way by weather conditions.
